Writer’s Showcase 2012
It’s that inspired time of year when area teachers from Kindergarten through High School have an opportunity to nominate their star writers for the coveted Writer’s Showcase Award! The Sacramento Area Reading Association will honor multiple entries from across the genres (including poetry, narrative, historical fiction, and expository writing), which best represent our area’s gifted young writers. Follow the simple steps below and give your students a chance to showcase their writing!
Participating authors, their families, teachers, and principals will be invited to our Writer’s Showcase celebration on Thursday, April 19, 2012. It will be held at Will Rogers Middle School at 5:30 p.m. What a phenomenal opportunity for your students to meet other talented writers and their families! In addition to receiving the prestigious Writer’s Showcase Award, participants will meet a celebrated children’s author and be presented an autographed copy of one of her latest books. Cookies and juice will be served during the festivities. It’s the literary event of the year!
How to Submit Writing Entries to the Writer’s Showcase:
- Invite the teachers at your site to save student-writing samples that seem to shine!
- Collect them, and as a staff, a small group, or individually...choose 3 writing entries.
- Mount the 3 writing samples on construction paper for exhibition purposes.
- On the back of the construction paper attach a neatly printed completed entry form. Student-generated books do not need to be mounted.
